Quick Facts

The Kingdom of the Hawaiian Islands
is still a sovereign, independent country

• Contrary to what most people think, the Hawaiian Islands is not part of the United States… and never was! That’s because the United States never lawfully acquired the Hawaiian Islands.

• What is known as “The State of Hawaii” was created by the U.S. to make it look like the United States’ claim to the Hawaiian Islands is legitimate.

• The fact is, the Kingdom of the Hawaiian Islands, by law, is actually an existing
sovereign, independent country, but one that has been occupied by the U.S. since
1898!

• Realizing that their country still exists, many Hawaiians are embracing the nationality of their homeland and working to Free Hawaii from U.S. occupation.

• International experts who have studied our situation, conclude that the restoration of Hawaii as an independent nation is not a question of “if” but of “when.”

• The United Nations and the international community are working to convince the
United States to voluntarily end its illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom and
fully cooperate in its restoration.

• The campaign welcomes all people living in the Hawaiian Islands — and anywhere else — to join the Hawaiian people in restoring the Hawaiian Kingdom.

• Hawaiians call on all Americans to urge their President to Free Hawaii and to
normalize and resume proper friendly relations between the two countries.
Can Hawaii Function as a Free Country?

Can Hawaii Function As A Free Country?

• Yes, it can! Like many other small countries, the Hawaiian Kingdom can function very nicely as a free country. As an already-existing entity, the Hawaiian Kingdom’s policies for governance are still intact in its constitution, laws, civil codes, treaties and so forth.

• Most of the mechanisms, structures and systems necessary for a fully functioning, modern country are already operating in place right now.

• Transitioning from being American-operated to being Hawaiian-operated is basically a change of management style — we’re not going to be starting from scratch or undertaking a complete overhaul.

• Management Hawaiian-style would be infused with values like Aloha in the
operations of politics, economics, education, food production, land policies, security and other vital national functions.

Will the U.S. Agree to Free Hawaii?

• Yes, it will… IF... we Hawaiians and our friends in the international community can convince the U.S. to implement its legal and moral obligation to help restore the Hawaiian Islands to its rightful independent status.

• Yes, it will... IF... the U.S. understands it is in its best interest and the best interest of all concerned, for it to withdraw from Hawaii in a peaceful, orderly, expeditious and friendly way, and to normalize foreign relations with the Hawaiian Kingdom according to its recognized treaty obligations.

• Yes, it will... IF... other countries help pave the way by entering into foreign relations and trade with the Hawaiian Kingdom.

• Yes, it will... IF... international organizations such as the United Nations become involved as facilitators and participants to this special peace-making opportunity to promote justice, compassion and healing for such a long-standing offense.
